SURPRISE: Stimulus Money Used Inappropriately - Part 2

In a post last month, I exposed a bunch of useless projects that the government thought might be worth investing in because they would stimulate the economy. Here are a few more projects that have been funded with the $787 billion stimulus, OUR MONEY !!

• $1.9 million for "water taxis to nowhere" in Pleasure Beach, Conn. Congress approved the money after a fire destroyed the bridge to Pleasure Beach, but the area already is accessible by foot and rowboats.
• $3.8 million for an urban art trail in Rochester, N.Y.
• $3.1 million for upgrades to a boat owned by the New York State Museum. The boat dates back to 1921 and was originally used in canals.
• $3 million for bicycle racks in Georgetown -- the Washington, D.C., neighborhood that is one of the wealthiest areas in the country.
• $1.5 million to improve the street scape in the six blocks surrounding a downtown Detroit casino.
• $578,000 for fighting homelessness in Union, N.Y. According to a local news report, the town never asked for the stimulus money and did not even have a program through which to administer the money. The town supervisor said he wasn't aware of a homelessness problem in the town.
• $550,000 for a skateboard park in Pawtucket, R.I.
• $500,000 for fish food in Missouri, to help defray the costs for state fish farmers.
• $400,000 for renovations to a vacant building in City of Jal, N.M.
• $380,350 to encourage landowners in West Virginia to grow shiitake mushrooms and ginseng.
• $90,000 for a communal kitchen in Watsonville, Calif. The shared kitchen is meant to help food service entrepreneurs.

Obama Slipped Into The Record Books

President Barack Obama has reached an all-time low in job approval rating compared to other president’s at this point of their presidential tenure. His rating has now slipped to 47%, the lowest ever recorded since the creation of the Gallup poll that measures job approval in 1938. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs says that those numbers are meaningless and that he isn’t going to start paying attention to them now. Below is a list of other presidents and their ratings:

George W. Bush – 86 percent
Bill Clinton – 52 percent
George H.W. Bush – 71 percent
Ronald Reagan – 49 percent
Jimmy Carter – 57 percent
Gerald Ford – 52 percent
Richard Nixon – 59 percent
Lyndon Johnson – 74 percent

Dwight Eisenhower – 69 percent
Harry Truman – 49 percent

As you may have noticed, two other presidents dipped below 50% in history: Reagan and Truman. You may be asking yourself, “What’s the big deal? Truman and Reagan were only 2 points away from Obama.” The difference between Reagan, Truman, and Obama is the fact that 4 months into his presidency, Truman faced WWII and dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki after the U.S. ultimatum was not met by the Japanese. He didn't take his sweet time to decide if dropping the bombs were the right move or not; as did Obama with his Afghanistan troop decision (over 2 ½ months). Reagan challenged Mikhail Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall, not bow down to him; as did Obama to half of Asia and the Middle East. What has Obama done that is worthy? EXACTLY !!

I Am What ??

Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) just compared Republicans who oppose government-run socialist healthcare to those who condoned slavery. Where's the outrage? Sit back, wait, and don't be surprised if it never comes.

Driving home last week from a weekend in Savannah, Georgia, I heard on the radio what I have posted below. Maybe this is something that is well known to everyone, but I asked a few people and they had no idea this occurred. I have never heard this before so I did my own research and pulled together the following.

December 1 marked the 54^th anniversary of Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat in the front of the bus to a white passenger. In 1955, Park was 42 years old. She is considered a civil rights activist and was recognized by the U.S. Congress as the "Mother of the Modern-Day Civil Rights Movement."

Irene Morgan was a pioneer in the civil rights movement, 11 years before Rosa Parks. Morgan was 27 years old in 1944 when she was arrested and jailed in Virginia for refusing to give up her seat on the bus to a white person. Morgan was sitting four rows from the back, but still in the "colored section". In a 1946 landmark decision, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 7-1 that Virginia's state law enforcing segregation on interstate buses was illegal.

Claudette Colvin is a pioneer of the African American civil rights movement and was part of the NAACP Youth Council at the time of her arrest. She resisted to give up her seat in a Montgomery bus to a white person in 1955 at the age of 15. This incident occurred 9 months before the Rosa Parks. Her case was not publicized by black leaders because of her image as a lower-class, dark-skinned, unmarried pregnant woman. After her father posted her bail, Edgar Daniel Nixon, the leader of the Montgomery chapter of the NAACP, vowed to help Colvin because they had been waiting for a test case to challenge bus segregation. In the months following her arrest, Colvin became pregnant. At that time, it was considered a moral transgression and would scandalize the deeply religious black community.

Then came the second-guessing: (1) very poor background (2) father mowed lawns (3) mother was a maid (4) lived in the poorest sections of Montgomery. It was also said that Colvin spewed curse words at officers. Colvin denied ever saying anything to that extent, on the contrary, they were directed towards her. This made the NAACP question whether or not Colvin was a "reputable" face for the civil rights cause. They did not want the white press to pick on all of her "negatives". The decision was made that they were going to wait for until they had a plaintiff who was more upstanding.

Some historians have argued that civil rights leaders, who were predominantly middle class, were uneasy with Colvin's lower class background.

Mary Louise Smith is a civil rights protester.  On October 21, 1955, at the age of 18, Smith was ordered to give up her seat on the bus to a white female passenger. She was subsequently arrested, 40 days before Rosa Parks. Her father bailed her out of jail and paid her fine, $9. Smith was a high-school dropout, worked as a housekeeper, and lived in a clapboard shack in the country. Smith was not chosen by black leaders as the face of the Montgomery civil rights movement because it was rumored that her father was an alcoholic.

Smith did not learn about that until 1995 when a reporter told her that she had been a topic of conversation among black leader as being a test case. They could not find anything negative to say about Smith, but the reason she was not chosen was because of her father's rumor – he was an alcoholic. Smith said that this was an untrue allegation and that it bothered her more than the exclusion and ignoring of her contributions by Montgomery and national black leaders for over 50 years.

I have nothing bad to say about Rosa Parks, but I feel that the NAACP was guilty of racism themselves. Why? Because Claudette Colvin should have been the face of the civil rights movement and it's her name that should be everywhere Rosa Parks name is currently at. As mentioned above, the NAACP did not use Colvin as the "chosen" person because of her image of being a lower-class, dark-skinned, unmarried pregnant woman. During that time, light/fair skin carried more of a status among blacks. How racist is that? Amongst themselves they must have said, "Because her skin is dark we might not get the results we want so sorry Claudette, you just don't fit the profile we are looking for." Isn't that as racist as "you have to sit in the back of the bus because you are black and not white?" I see it as racism between themselves. It is counter-productive. That's why Rosa Parks was chosen – 42 years old, with a job, and light skin.

What about the case of Mary Louise Smith? She was not chosen to be "Rosa Parks" because there were rumors that her dad was an alcoholic. The NAACP did not find anything negative against her and she was never informed of the reason until 1995 – 40 years later.

I am against racism of any kind and I feel that the NAACP engaged themselves in racism back then. Think about this: How many atrocities could have been prevented IF the NAACP would have handled the Claudette Colvin case in the manner they did for Rosa Parks? Think of all the people who suffered during the 9 months the NAACP hand-picked someone who was just right and was not dark-skinned or poor being unmarried and pregnant. I am not saying that racism towards blacks would have ended, but the process would have commenced a lot sooner instead of 9 months LATER !! Unbelievable !!

Obama Bows Again; This Time To A Communist

Obama has once again embarrassed the United States by bowing to another head of state, especially one from a communist country. The guy in the picture is the Premier Wen Jibao of the State Council of the People's Republic of China. He currently serves as the country's head of government and leads its cabinet. On top of that, he holds membership in the 16th and 17th Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China as the 3rd ranking member out of nine.

There you go, Obama does it again. I will repeat again - No US president should EVER bow to anyone. NEVER !!

As mentioned last Friday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid unveiled his destructive 2,074 page healthcare bill that will only make the situation worse regarding healthcare in America. Sen. Reid is proposing in his junk of a healthcare bill a 5% tax on elective cosmetic surgery. Nailing those who want breast implants, liposuction, Botox, etc. with this tax will provide $5 billion towards covering the over $900 billion healthcare will cost us. Where did you think these crazy Democrats were going to pull out the money to pay for this? Obama’s stash? This is just the beginning of all the taxes we will be hit with in the coming months and years. This particular tax, if approved, will commence in January 1, 2010. Sit back and watch the show. The popcorn for now is free until Obama and his cronies take over the movie industry.

SEC. 9017. EXCISE TAX ON ELECTIVE COSMETIC MEDICAL PROCEDURES.

(a) IN GENERAL.-Subtitle D of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended by this Act, is amended by adding at the end the following new chapter:

''CHAPTER 49-ELECTIVE COSMETIC MEDICAL PROCEDURES ''Sec. 5000B. Imposition of tax on elective cosmetic medical procedures.

''SEC. 5000B. IMPOSITION OF TAX ON ELECTIVE COSMETIC MEDICAL PROCEDURES.

''(a) IN GENERAL.-There is hereby imposed on any cosmetic surgery and medical procedure a tax equal to 5 percent of the amount paid for such procedure (determined without regard to this section), whether paid by insurance or otherwise.

''(b) COSMETIC SURGERY AND MEDICAL PROCEDURE.-For purposes of this section, the term 'cosmetic surgery and medical procedure' means any cosmetic surgery (as defined in section 213(d)(9)(B)) or other similar procedure which-

''(1) is performed by a licensed medical professional, and

''(2) is not necessary to ameliorate a deformity arising from, or directly related to, a congenital abnormality, a personal injury resulting from an accident or trauma, or disfiguring disease.

''(c) PAYMENT OF TAX.-

''(1) IN GENERAL.-The tax imposed by this section shall be paid by the individual on whom the procedure is performed.

''(2) COLLECTION.-Every person receiving a payment for procedures on which a tax is imposed under subsection (a) shall collect the amount of the

tax from the individual on whom the procedure is performed and remit such tax quarterly to the Secretary at such time and in such manner as provided

by the Secretary.

''(3) SECONDARY LIABILITY.-Where any tax imposed by subsection (a) is not paid at the time payments for cosmetic surgery and medical procedures are made, then to the extent that such tax is not collected, such tax shall be paid by the person who performs the procedure.''.

(b) CLERICAL AMENDMENT.-The table of chapters for subtitle D of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended by this Act, is amended by inserting after the item relating to chapter 48 the following new item:

''CHAPTER 49-ELECTIVE COSMETIC MEDICAL PROCEDURES''.

(c) EFFECTIVE DATE.-The amendments made by this section shall apply to procedures performed on or after January 1, 2010.

Obama Will Eat His Turkey, Then Decide About Afghanistan Troops

On September 16, 2009, Gen. Stanley McChrsytal, whom President Obama selected to guide the U.S. to victory in Afghanistan, requested an additional 40,000 troops to avoid failure. As of today, Obama has not yet decided whether he will send more troops to support and back-up those currently there struggling to keep up with the Taliban. More than 90 troops have died since Gen. McChrystal put in his request. It was announced Friday that Obama will not make a decision until after Thanksgiving . I hope that on Thanksgiving he gives thanks to all the men and women who are fighting and are risking their lives for this great country.

Get with the program President Obama !! How much longer will you need to decided whether our troops deserve help or not? Does everyone remember when the Bush administration did not send immediate help to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and how the media jumped all over him? Where is the media now? It has been over two months since the request was made. Slowly, the media is becoming "government run" because never is Obama held accountable or questioned unless it occurs on Foxnews. What a shame !!

On the left hand side of my blog is a countdown showing how much time has elapsed since Gen. McChrystal requested more troops. Time is ticking President Obama and troops need more help. When will you care?

Sen. Harry Reid Wants Your Money To Pay For Abortions

Now it’s the Senate’s turn to reveal a healthcare bill that will tell you to “look one way while their other hand is taking your wallet.” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) healthcare bill made its debut yesterday at a whopping 2,074 pages. As expected, it is full of and more . As was the case with Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) bill, there will be a lot of outrageous demands made in the “bill”, but there a couple of things that stands out right away. What are they? On page 120, line 13, the plan would require that at least one insurance plan offered in the Exchange (where insurances will be offered to the public to be purchased) covers abortions.

Let’s see how you like this one. On page 122, line 11, section 1303 under the title “Actuarial Value of Optional Service Coverage”, states that the government run socialist healthcare will charge every enrollee in the plan a monthly abortion premium paid directly to the U.S. Treasury account. What? Exactly what you read !! The Obama socialist healthcare plan will force you, whether you believe in abortions or not, to fund abortion services. Incredible !! Section 1303 (a)(2)(C) mentions that the Health Benefits Commissioner must charge at a minimum $1 per enrollee per month.

It is disgusting that a government run healthcare plan in the U.S. will force those who purchase a plan to pay for the murder of defenseless babies. Incredible !!

There is a pro-life amendment called Stupak/Pitt passed by the House by a vote of 240-194 on November 7, 2009. Surprisingly, the vote was bi-partisan. Out of the 240 that voted in favor of the bill, 64 were Democrats. The amendment combines current law by prohibiting federal funding of elective abortions under any government-run plan or plans available under the Exchange. The bill that Harry Reid has put forth rejects the bipartisan Stupak/Pitts amendment and enforces the American people to pay for abortions.

Healthcare reform should be an opportunity to save lives, not end them.

Say It Aint So "O" !!: Part 2

A couple of days ago, I posted a picture showing President Obama NOT saluting the flag.

This picture illustrates President Barack Obama at a ceremony in which a wreath was laid at the tomb of the unknown soldier in Moscow, Russia on July 6, 2009. The photo wants to give the impression that Obama is saluting the American flag, but he is doing the contrary.




The picture below shows what Obama is REALLY doing - saluting the Russian flag. Why do I say that?  Well you can see a Russian soldier standing at attention saluting. We can all agree that he is not saluting an American flag, right? Would Russia play America's National Anthem in a Russian cemetery while laying a wreath? I highly doubt it. This is just another illustration of how our President won't salute OUR flag, but will travel half way around the world and salute another countries flag. And not just any country, but one that had missiles in Cuba pointed at the U.S.

Now, let's talk about Obama shows weakness in front of head of states by bowing to them.

This picture was taken when Obama visited Saudi Arabia on April 9, 2009. Obama BOWED to King Abdullah when he met him. The King is a financier of terrorist throughout the world and OUR president is going to bow to him as a sign of submission? Not convinced it is a bow Obama did, take a look at the video:



What a joke !!

This last picture was taken this week in Japan when he met with Emperor Akihito, son of Emperor Hirohito. Who was Hirohito? He was Japan's emperor during Pearl Harbor and depending where you get your information, many believe he authorized the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Many believe that Obama showed excellent etiquette when he bowed to the emperor, but many back in the U.S., including current and former government officials expressed displeasure for the act. I don't care who it is the president is meeting, but he should not bow to anyone. He is the President of the United States of America, the greatest nation in the universe. Under no circumstance should Obama have bowed to the emperor of Japan nor the King of Saudi Arabia. It is disgusting how Obama is desecrating the Oval Office with his socialist agenda or mentality. May God help us !!

9/11 Mastermind Going To New York

Happy Friday the 13^th !! Now that we got the pleasantries out of the way, let's get down to business.

Later today, Attorney General Eric Holder will announce that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind of the September 11 terrorist attacks, along with 4 others also involved in the attacks, will be put on trial in New York City. In past months, authorities have squashed another potential terrorist attack in the city. Now with this circus coming to New York, Homeland Security should raise the level to RED.

And just when you thought this story couldn't get worse. The White House plans to try these terrorists in civilian courts with a criminal trial. That means that they will get the right to a fair trial, the right to a taxpayer funded attorney, the right to review all evidence against him including the classified intelligence material, the right to exclude evidence against him, including the information collected through enhanced interrogation techniques. How do you like that? With the access to possible classified material, the percentage of this information leaked through his lawyer to other terrorists increases drastically. We have had that scenario play out already. It is incredible that someone who masterminded the murder of thousands of people would have the right to get a trial like any other American. How despicable is it that the terrorist who killed thousands on 9/11 is going to have a lawyer funded by the families of those he killed? Like I have said before, everyday Obama proves why he is incompetent to serve as our Commander in Chief. Is this the doing of Barack Obama trying to appease the Muslim world and prove to them that the evil Western Empire came be nice to radical Muslims? I think so.

Wait, it gets a bit worse. The administration will also announce later today that Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, alleged to have planned the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, will get a military tribunal trial. So the terrorist who blows up New York gets to have a trial with the same rights as every American is entitled to, but the one who blew-up soldiers get a military tribunal. I don't get it? Mohammed should never step on U.S. soil, yet Obama is under the impression that a jury in New York is going to find him guilty. Don't be so sure Mr. President because Mohammed can easily claim that he did not receive a fair trial. Don't be surprised if it back fires.

True Unemployment Rate

Well folks, as mentioned in a previous post , the stimulus has failed to work again. Unemployment has risen to 10.2%, from September’s 9.8%; the highest since 1983. Nearly 16 million people can't find jobs even though the recession has apparently ended (Cash for Clunkers and tax credit for first time homebuyers have inflated the number). According to the Department of Labor, the economy lost another 190,000 jobs in October. This is the 22^nd straight month that the economy has lost jobs, the longest in the last 70 years. Experts say that the unemployment rate could rise as high as 10.5% next year as employers are unwilling to hire.

Thanks to President Bill Clinton, who in 1994 changed the way unemployment is calculated, the government figure is not complete resulting in misleading information passed on to the public. Currently, the actual unemployment rate, which is known as U-6, is 17.5%. How is that you may ask? Easy. As previously mentioned, in 1994 Clinton administration decided that the Bureau of Labor Statistics would no longer include, as they did prior to 1994, those who were “marginally attached workers, discouraged workers, or those who are part-time employees that which to work full-time.”

Marginally attached workers are those who currently are neither working nor looking for a job, but say that they want and are available for a job and have looked for some time. If you had a full-time job and you settled for a part-time job instead because of economic reasons, you are not included. People under this category want to work full-time, but they can’t sit around and wait for a full-time job to land on their lap so they settle for the next best thing, a part-time job. If you stopped looking for a job because you looked for months and months and did not find one, you are not included. People in this category are labeled “discouraged workers” because they are discouraged. They have been searched for a job in every possible place you can think of and they have turned up with nothing, zero, nada.

As you can see from above, there are a lot of people that are not been factored in along with the governments “unemployment rate” of 10.2%. Discouraged workers and those who settled for a part-time job are a result of the current economic situation we are facing. The true actual unemployment rate, 17.5%, is what should count when looking to see if the job market is on the rise. Just keep in mind what the true unemployment rate is and don’t be fooled by the governments number. Yes, their number is the official gauge everyone goes by, but it is not the ACTUAL picture of the crisis. The Bureau of Labor Statistics continues to keep track of the true unemployment rate, they just don’t.

Lastly, according to the New York Times the previous high for the true unemployment rate was in 1982 (17.1%). Don’t be fooled !!

Obama A No-Go In Berlin

President Obama said to Germany “No thank you” when asked if he would attend the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Does Obama know that with the great help of America, that wall came down? The White House cited that Obama’s schedule was busy, therefore, he would be the only world leader invited not attending the ceremony. Actually, the real reason why he is not attending is because there was not enough going on at the ceremony involving – BARACK OBAMA !!

Let’s face it Obama like Obama. In his first year in office, Barack Obama has visited the most foreign countries than any other president ever. Clinton and Bush combined visited 14 countries. When Obama has visited those countries, he has either spoken about himself or he apologized about something “evil” America did. Another example of the Obama infomercial: In his first 8 months in office, Obama has done 66 television interviews. During the same period as presidents, Clinton gave 6 interviews while Bush gave 16. That is a 3-1 ratio (66 – 22). This guy loves himself !! Obama did make the time earlier this year to travel to Copenhagen in an effort to bring the Olympics to HIS hometown. He will definitely make the time to travel to Oslo, Norway next month to collect HIS Nobel Peace Prize. And let’s not forget that last year Obama made time to stop in Berlin to talk about how HE is the CHOOSEN one to lead America.

Why would a U.S. sitting president not attend an event that commemorates the fall of communism in Germany in the name of freedom and human rights? America inspired democracy in Germany 20 years ago Monday thanks to President Regan, but Obama doesn’t think the trip is worth making because as you can see below, his schedule is very busy (NOT !!). Again, what a joke !!
